What we do for the poor, what we do for those who have no one to help them and no one to turn to — what we do for them, we do for Jesus.
Archbishop José H. Gomez

Directed gifts allow you to designate your gift to a program such as Together in Mission, Catholic Education Foundation, or the Priest Retirement Fund to name a few. When you make a directed gift to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, you enjoy the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting a program that is personally meaningful to you.
You also have the option of designating your gift for current use or for endowment. Current-use gifts provide funds and flexibility over the short term, whereas endowment gifts provide security over the long term by expanding the Archdiocese’s financial base and creating a predictable source of future income for such things as tuition assistance and priest retirement.

Year-end giving considerations
The end of the year is the perfect time to share God’s many blessings with the Archdiocese of Los Angeles through its various fundraising initiatives and programs.
Many people choose to gift assets that have increased in value for the tax advantages. If you itemize tax deductions, you may receive an income tax deduction up to the full market value as well as avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation.
A year-end distribution from your IRA can also be tax-advantageous. lf you are 70 ½ or older, the IRS requires required minimum distributions (RMDs) from tax deferred retirement accounts. A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) can satisfy your RMD for the year, up to $100,000, excluded from your taxable income.
Gifts must be postmarked by December 31 to be eligible for a tax deduction.
Credit card donations, stock transfers, and gifts of securities must be received by 11 :59 p.m. PST on December 31.
The Archdiocese requests receipt of RMDs by December 17 to ensure timely processing.
