On June 12, 2026, the Catholic bishops of the United States entrusted our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through a solemn act of consecration. We thank all LA Catholics who celebrated America’s 250th birthday with us by spending 22 days praying for our nation, encountering Christ in those around us, and remembering the faithful men and women whose courage, sacrifice, and witness helped shape our Church, our communities, and our country.

The Sacred Heart reminds us that renewal begins not in institutions or programs, but in the human heart. Before we can heal divisions, we must learn to see one another with compassion. Before we can strengthen our communities, we must recognize the dignity of every person. Before we can transform our nation, we must first allow Christ to transform us.

Together, let us bring America to the Heart of Jesus through prayer, encounter, and remembrance.

On July 3rd, Archbishop Gomez celebrated a special Mass for the Nation at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Before Mass, LA Catholics gathered for a Patriotic Celebration in the Cathedral Plaza where we gave thanks for our nation and prepared our hearts in prayer.

We entrust our future to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and ask God to bless our country with renewed faith, hope, and charity.

“Love is still the only way forward for America. And love is the duty that we owe to our country as Catholics. We can help this great nation renew its shared belief in our common humanity, in the dignity and equality of every person — no matter where they are born or if they are different from us.”

-Archbishop Gomez
