Mass for the Nation

Bring America to the Heart of Jesus

What kind of nation can we become when we allow our hearts to be transformed by Christ?

On June 12, 2026, the Catholic bishops of the United States entrusted our nation to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through a solemn act of consecration. As we prepare to celebrate America’s 250th birthday, we invite LA Catholics and friends everywhere to live out that consecration by spending 22 days praying for our nation, encountering Christ in those around us, and remembering the faithful men and women whose courage, sacrifice, and witness helped shape our Church, our communities, and our country.

The Sacred Heart reminds us that renewal begins not in institutions or programs, but in the human heart. Before we can heal divisions, we must learn to see one another with compassion. Before we can strengthen our communities, we must recognize the dignity of every person. Before we can transform our nation, we must first allow Christ to transform us.

Together, let us bring America to the Heart of Jesus through prayer, encounter, and remembrance.

These 22 days will culminate on July 3 with a special Mass for the Nation celebrated by Archbishop Gomez at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. Before Mass, all are invited to gather for a Patriotic Celebration in the Cathedral Plaza beginning at 11:00 a.m. as we give thanks for our nation and prepare our hearts in prayer. As Catholics from across Southern California and beyond come together ahead of America’s 250th birthday, we will entrust our future to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and ask God to bless our country with renewed faith, hope, and charity.

Visit this page each day throughout the campaign for reflections, opportunities for prayer, stories from Catholic history, and ways to participate. You can also follow LA Catholics on social media and join Catholics across the country as we bring America to the Heart of Jesus.

Take part in our 22 Days of Prayer, Encounter, and Remembrance by offering a prayer, making a commitment to see Christ in others, or honoring someone whose faith and witness helped shape your life.
