CBI Certification

Requirements for Certification as Bible Study Leader

• Successful completion of Old and New Testament years. This includes participation in in-class small group faith sharing.
• Successful completion of One Mission One Faith, offered through Catechetical Formation. This can be taken any time before or during the three years of CBI Bible formation.
• The third year is participation in Vision and Skills Faith Formation, offered through Catechetical Formation. There is a special session at the end dedicated to facilitating Bible faith sharing.

NOTE: if you have already completed One Mission One Faith this fulfills the requirement. If you have completed Vision and Skills, you will be required to attend the session on Bible Faith Sharing and complete the following practicum.

• After completion of Vision and Skills, candidates in teams of two will form and lead Bible Faith Sharing groups as their practicum. These can be held in parishes, assisted living facilities, homes, prisons, or anywhere several are gathered to share the Word of God.
  • Each team will be observed by a designated representative of CBI/Catechist Formation.
  • Each person will observe two of the fellow candidate team’s groups, and each team will be observed by catechetical and biblical leaders.
  • Each person will meet individually with the CBI coordinator and be recommended by a Catechist Formation or CBI representative or a pastor.
