Position Summary: The person in this position will be responsible for the comprehensive catechetical program and sacramental preparation for the youth of the St. Lawrence Martyr Parish. The Youth Minister works closely with the Director of Religious Education, Assistant Youth Minister, clergy and other staff to foster spiritual and personal growth within each young person from junior high through high school while focusing on and sharing the true message of Jesus, and living by example.
Requirements
- Must be a practicing Catholic
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred)
- At least 3 years of experience working in Youth Ministry and Coordinating Confirmation with high school teens and their parents
- Experience working with jr. high students (Preferred)
- Must have great communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability and the confidence to foster relationships with teens, parents, families, staff, parish community, etc.
- Strong verbal and administrative skills, including computer proficiency (Microsoft and Google)
Major Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee and collaborate closely with the Assistant Youth Minister to expand the vision for the program
- Oversee both jr. high Bridge program and high school Confirmation/Youth Ministry program
- Plan and implement Confirmation sessions, youth nights, service opportunities, events, etc.
- Plan and implement retreats for teens
- Identify, develop and train teen and adult leadership, including a core team of catechists
- Manage Youth Ministry/Confirmation calendars and schedules, and communicate details effectively
- Maintain schedule which includes evenings and weekend time
- Confirmation Sessions: Generally, 2 Sundays (3:30-6pm, including 5pm Youth Mass) and 2 Tuesdays (6:30-8pm) per month
- Bridge Jr. High Program: Generally, twice a month, 1 Monday 6:30-8pm and 1 Wednesday 6:30-8pm
- Collaborate w/ Assistant Youth Minister and other key staff to maintain social media presence and parish communication
- Maintain annual budget (working with bookkeeper and business manager)
Other Responsibilities
As an ADLA employee, all employees are required to adhere to and embrace our Catholic faith in practice, this includes attending Mass, upholding necessary policy and procedures, especially those related to working with youth and teens, and maintaining current VIRTUS/Safeguard the Children requirements.
Salary commensurate with experience, including but not limited to effective verbal and written communication skills, education, background and desire to work with youth, teens and parents within the St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Community.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
