About St. Francis High School
Founded in 1946, St. Francis High School is a private, Catholic, college preparatory school for young men, rooted in the Capuchin Franciscan tradition. Position Summary
St. Francis High School seeks qualified substitute teachers to serve on an on-call basis for short-term classroom assignments. Substitute teachers ensure continuity of instruction and support the school’s academic and Franciscan mission by following the absent teacher’s lesson plans and maintaining a structured, respectful classroom environment. Assignments are limited to no more than 30 consecutive instructional days in the same classroom.
Responsibilities
- Deliver lesson plans prepared by the regular classroom teacher
- Maintain a classroom atmosphere consistent with school culture and expectations
- Accurately record and report student attendance
- Supervise students respectfully and ensure engagement with assigned work
- Uphold classroom rules and reinforce the school’s Catholic and Franciscan values
- Provide coverage for homeroom, lunch, or school events as needed
- Maintain professional communication with students, faculty, and administration

Physical Requirements
- Must be able to move between classrooms (stairs required)

Requirements
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Prior teaching experience or relevant classroom experience
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Technological proficiency, including Google Workspace and ChromeOS
- Completion of a background check and VIRTUS training
Preferred:
- Familiarity with Franciscan values or prior experience in a Catholic school setting
- Experience using Blackbaud and digital learning platforms such as GoGuardian or Socrative
- Knowledge of adolescent development, particularly with high school boys
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
