Immaculate Heart Middle School is an independent, Catholic, school for girls grades six through eight. On our beautiful hillside property in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles, we attract very talented and highly motivated young women who represent the religious, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the City of Los Angeles and its suburbs.
Our students are immersed in an exciting and challenging curriculum that inspires a love of learning while demanding the focus and self-discipline necessary for success in high school and beyond. Complementing the academic program, we offer a wide spectrum of extracurricular activities designed to help students to explore their interests and to tap into their special gifts and talents.
We seek an experienced Music & Chorus Teacher who is a passionate educator and open to collaborating on interdisciplinary levels. This is a part-time position and calls for an instructor who will be responsible for teaching Choral Music to grades six, seven & eight.
The ideal candidate:
- is a gifted and passionate teacher of Music & has experience conducting a large chorus.
- has a flexible schedule that can accommodate classes every other day from 1:00 – 3:00 pm & would be available for evening concerts throughout the school year.
- relies on frequent and varied assessment methods to gauge student progress and provide feedback.
- is willing to collaborate with other teachers in our professional learning community.
- is sensitive to an academically, socially, culturally, and ethnically diverse, all-girl population.
- has excellent classroom management, communication, and organization skills.
- is able to connect with students, parents, and colleagues in a professional way.
Requirements
- Prior experience working with the middle school mind
- Bachelor’s degree in Education &/or Music Theology – Master’s degree preferred
- California Multiple or Single Subject Teaching Credential recommended

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
