St. Lucy School, has served the west Long Beach community since 1950. We are committed to working together with families to share the light of faith and knowledge by providing a quality Catholic education grounded in standards-based curricula, data-informed practices, high expectations, and differentiated instruction.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Primary Grades teacher to join our team. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with other teachers, staff, administration and parents to support student learning is crucial. The successful candidate will be open to continuous learning and to participating fully in the life of the school and faith community.
Responsibilities will include:
- Developing and implementing lesson plans in alignment with Archdiocesan and State standards.
- Applying a variety of instructional strategies to help meet the needs of diverse learners in a multi-age classroom
- Integrating Catholic teachings and values into the curriculum and classroom activities.
- Providing a structured and engaging learning environment
- Setting and upholding classroom guidelines that align with Catholic values
- Offering timely and constructive feedback to students and parents to enhance academic development.
- Continuously monitoring student learning and providing interventions as necessary to support individual learning needs.
- Maintaining open lines of communication with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress, behavior, and academic issues.
- Engaging in professional development opportunities to improve teaching skills and staying informed about current best practices in education and Catholic teaching methods.
- Serving as a positive role model of Catholic values and virtues for students and the wider school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Teaching Credential and/or Master’s Degree preferred)
- Active, practicing Catholic (Certified Catechist preferred)
- VIRTUS trained and fingerprinted through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
