Description
Classroom Organization
Implements plans concerning daily/weekly schedule, individual and group activities for children, lesson plans, room arrangement, and learning centers. Maintains and organizes outside as well as inside play areas. Light housekeeping and organizational skills are required. Supervises and directs aides. Maintains and keeps teaching supplies and storage areas clean and orderly. Arranges classroom with children’s needs and fluid movement in mind.
Behavior Management
Implements and reinforces behavior management strategies in accordance with the Preschool Program’s philosophy. Always implements these strategies with kindness and respect to the children.
Teaching
Plans and completes daily lesson plans, works with individual children as well as children in groups, models appropriate language, uses open-ended questions. Oversees the smooth completion of daily lesson plans and routines. Assists children with personal hygiene. Keeps teaching skills current with attending at least one class or seminar. Develops personal creativity, ability to think on one’s feet, and efficient use of resources to find materials for various learning centers. Is supportive of all staff.
Working with Parents
Greets parents/visitors and ascertains their needs, asks for identification, and asks those not welcome to leave. Always lives out the Preschool Philosophy when interacting with parents. Chooses words carefully. Involves Director when meeting with parents about potential problems. Attends staff meetings, parent conferences, Back to School nights and other programs as required.

7:30 am-3:30 pm
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- 12 core semester units
- Child Development
- Child Family and Community
- Curriculum (age appropriate)
- 6 months experience working in a Child Care Center
- Minimum of 3 hours per day for 50 days in 6 months
Alternatives:
- Child Development Associate Credential with appropriate age endorsement and 6 months experience.
- Child Development Associate Teacher Permit/Teacher Permit/Master Teacher Permit
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
