Description
Center Organization
Administration of the Preschool Program in accordance with California State Licensing, and the Catholic Christian Educational Community the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Overall management of staff and delegation of work: interviewing, hiring, and orientation of new staff. Completion of formal evaluations of staff and classroom. Coordination of on-going staff training. Maintenance of a Preschool program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual, cognitive, spiritual, and social needs of the individual child and the group. Responsibility for the design, development and supervision of the implementation of the entire Preschool program. Responsibility for the overall fiscal management of the classroom including ordering of supplies, overseeing tuition receipts and paying bills. Responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Preschool. Overall implementation of communication with parents and school staff to ensure good continuing relationship. Maintenance of a leadership role as it relates to both management of program planning.
Classroom Organization
Plans and implements daily lesson plans based on a thematic approach, works with children individually as well as in a group. Patterns appropriate language e use and development. Responsible for smooth completion of daily plans and routines. Continues the implementation of various teaching skills and techniques by continuing education or attending educational seminars. Supervises fellow teacher and aid. Conducts light housekeeping, preparation of snacks, and activity set-up. Complies with teacher job description.
Teaching
Plans and completes daily lesson plans, works with individual children as well as children in groups, models appropriate language, uses open-ended questions. Oversees the smooth completion of daily lesson plans and routines. Assists children with personal hygiene (toileting, changing clothes, washing hands, etc.). Keeps teaching skills current with attending at least one class or seminar. Develops personal creativity, ability to think on one’s feet, and efficient use of resources to find materials for various learning centers. Is supportive of all staff.
Working with Parents
It is the Director’s responsibility to oversee all parents/visitors, ask and obtain identification and ask those who are not welcome to leave. The Director will also explain and implement the Preschool’s philosophy. She will work with the teacher to develop clear and open lines of communication with parents, to be available to assist the teacher with ongoing or potential problems, to back the teacher and aide with behavior management, following the program philosophy. The Director attends all staff meetings, parent conference, Back to School Nights and other programs. She is available to talk to parents at all times.

Alternatives:
•AA degree in child development, 2 years teaching experience and Administrative units
•BA degree in child development, 1 year teaching experience and Administrative units
•Child Development Site Supervisor Permit/Program Director Permit
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
