Description
- The Accompanist will report to the Cantor.
- The time commitment consists of one evening rehearsal, typically 60-90 minutes in duration, per scheduled weekend of masses (2-3 weekends per month) along with a two-hour commitment for Mass on Saturday afternoon at 4:00 (3:00 Call Time) and a two-hour commitment for Mass on Sunday morning at 10:00 (9:00 Call Time). Mass is approximately one hour in duration.
- The Accompanist must be available for Easter and Christmas masses. These masses require additional rehearsal and will typically involve a small choir and other instrumentalists.
- The Accompanist and Cantor meet at the church one hour before mass to re-run music, incorporate any last-minute changes and perform a sound check.
- In-Ear Monitor Ear Buds are required and can be sourced through Cantor, if needed.
- Each scheduled week the Cantor selects congregational and meditation music for the Mass and sends a music line up to the Accompanist one to two days before rehearsal.
- The Accompanist is responsible for printing out the music from provided OCP resources. Additional sheet music will be provided by the Cantor.
- The Accompanist will maintain a notebook that includes all the Mass music parts and the current week’s music selections.
- The Accompanist may be called upon to provide instrumental offerings such as prelude and postlude music and music to accompany brief events during the mass.

Requirements
- Sight Reading
- Ability to follow tempo set by Cantor
- Ability to follow signals from Cantor to shorten or lengthen music to fit circumstances.
- Maintain an organized notebook & personal library of previously distributed music.
- Ability to take careful notes during rehearsal regarding preferred intro, tempi, selected verses, etc.
BONUS SKILLS:
- Ability to sing while playing
- Ability to harmonize with Cantor
- Coordination with and leadership of other instrumentalists
- Availability for weekday morning funerals
- Availability for additional weekend Masses for Weddings and Quinceaneras
- Ability to sing in Spanish (for occasional Spanish Masses – funerals and 12:00 p.m. Sundays)
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
