Description
St. Martin of Tours School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Physical Education (PE) Teacher & After-School Coach to join our faculty. This position is responsible for leading engaging and developmentally appropriate PE classes for students in grades K-8, promoting physical fitness, sportsmanship, and teamwork. Additionally, the role includes coaching after-school sports teams, fostering skill development, and encouraging a love of athletics in a supportive, faith-based environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Physical Education Teacher Duties:
- Design and implement a comprehensive PE curriculum that aligns with school standards and promotes lifelong fitness habits.
- Lead engaging and structured physical education lessons that focus on motor skills, teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where students of all skill levels feel encouraged and supported.
- Assess and monitor students’ progress, providing feedback to students and parents when necessary.
- Organize and supervise structured activities during recess and lunch to promote active play.
- Ensure student safety through proper supervision, equipment maintenance, and emergency preparedness.
After-School Coach Duties:
- Coach and mentor students in various after-school sports programs, ensuring skill development and team growth.
- Develop practice plans that focus on skill-building, teamwork, and game strategies.
- Coordinate and communicate with parents regarding schedules, game locations, and student expectations.
- Travel with teams to games and tournaments, representing the school with professionalism and integrity.
- Ensure all programs align with school policies and values.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, Sports Science, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience teaching PE or coaching youth sports required.
- Strong knowledge of sports rules, coaching techniques, and injury prevention strategies.
- Ability to manage and motivate students in both classroom and athletic settings.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Commitment to the mission and values of St. Martin of Tours School.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching credential or certification in Physical Education.
- Experience working in a Catholic or faith-based school setting.
- Familiarity with various sports leagues and tournament structures for school athletics.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
