Description
Nativity Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled part-time music teacher to nurture a love for music in students from Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade. This role, under the supervision of the principal, involves planning, delivering, and assessing music instruction for students in grades TK–8, including vocal, music theory, and instrumental instruction.
A strong emphasis is placed on liturgical music, as the teacher will play a vital role in preparing students to lead music for school Masses and special religious celebrations. The ideal candidate brings both musical excellence and a heart for Catholic education.
Responsibilities Include:
- Prepare students to participate in and lead music for weekly school liturgies
- Collaborate with the principal and parish leadership to select liturgical music aligned with the liturgical calendar and student abilities
- Teach age-appropriate music curriculum, integrating rhythm, pitch, movement, and music appreciation
- Direct school-wide performances, including Christmas and spring concerts
- Encourage student creativity, participation, and confidence through music
- Maintain a positive and organized classroom environment grounded in Catholic values
Requirements
- Degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field
- Experience in music instruction for children, preferably in a school or parish setting
- Knowledge of Catholic liturgy and sacred music repertoire
- Piano or guitar proficiency (preferred but not required)
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Practicing Catholic (preferred)
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
