Description
Expected hours of work: 20 hours per week (M-F – 3pm to 7pm)
The position of maintenance and facility worker is responsible for the overall maintenance and safety of the facilities to include Church, Parish office and Rectory on weekdays. The maintenance personnel will work in conjunction with parish staff and professional trades people to ensure the facilities are well maintained and kept in safe and orderly conditions at all times.
Requirements
- Personnel should possess an overall knowledge of cleaning and sanitary conditions when dealing with public venues such as schools and churches.
- General knowledge of building maintenance.
- General overall basic handyman skills are a requirement.
- Have a skill set that would allow for problem solving and administering repairs as needed
- Bi-lingual is a plus but not required
- An overall general knowledge and respect for the Catholic Church, as well as the need to respect the confidentiality of the Catholic Church as this is required by all employees of the parish
Physical Requirements
This position requires a person who is able to handle the physical demands of maintaining parish facilities and grounds. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift, move, and carry objects up to 50 pounds (tables, chairs, equipment, supplies, etc.).
- Standing and Walking: Extended periods of standing, walking, and moving between parish buildings and outdoor areas.
- Bending, Kneeling, and Climbing: Regular use of ladders, bending, kneeling, and reaching to complete cleaning, repairs, and setup tasks.
- Outdoor Work: Willingness and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for landscaping, light repairs, or event setup.
- Facility Setup & Cleanup: Physical ability to set up and break down tables, chairs, stages, tents, and other equipment for parish events.
- Manual Tasks: Using hand tools and light power equipment for minor repairs and routine maintenance.
- The ideal candidate will have the stamina, strength, and flexibility to perform these physical tasks safely and effectively while supporting the parish’s mission of hospitality and care for our community spaces
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
