St. Robert Bellarmine School is seeking a dedicated long-term substitute teacher for Middle School English Language Arts and Social Studies to cover a maternity leave. The position will begin in August 2025 and continue through the end of October 2025.

We are seeking a passionate and energetic educator who is committed to Catholic education and excited to work with middle school students. The ideal candidate will be organized, flexible, and able to maintain a warm, structured, and engaging classroom. A strong ability to communicate, collaborate with colleagues, and support the overall mission of the school is essential.
Position Details:
- Teach Middle School ELA and Social Studies (Grades 6–8)
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment rooted in Catholic values
- Plan and deliver lessons aligned with school curriculum and standards
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
- Maintain classroom routines, expectations, and student learning goals
- Assist with weekly recess and lunch yard duty
- Attend weekly faculty meetings
- Actively participate in school/parish events
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (required); teaching credential (preferred)
- Experience teaching middle school students, particularly in ELA and Social Studies
- Strong classroom management skills
- Commitment to supporting the mission and philosophy of Catholic education
- Ability to collaborate with faculty and administration
- VIRTUS trained (preferred)
- Fingerprints through the Archdiocese of Los Angeles (preferred)

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
