Description
Notre Dame Academy Elementary School, a K-8 co-ed school in West Los Angeles, is seeking a long-term substitute teacher to join our community. The ideal candidate will have a passion for developing students’ critical thinking and communication skills and a talent for inspiring students with creative and effective classroom management.
This role is scheduled to begin in January 2026, but there may be flexibility to start earlier in the Fall semester.
Responsibilities:
- Implement a comprehensive, differentiated, and data-driven curriculum aligned with California State Standards, collaborating with the colleagues as needed.
- Foster a positive and engaging classroom environment that promotes social-emotional skills, Habits of Mind, and critical thinking.
- Utilize centers and hands-on learning to provide interactive and age-appropriate experiences.
- Track and analyze student progress using a variety of assessment tools
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents to ensure continuity of learning.
- Work with a diverse student population using a culturally competent teaching lens.

Requirements
Qualifications:
- Training in education or a teaching credential is a plus.
- Teaching experience is highly preferred.
- Experience with differentiation and intervention strategies.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Ability to plan and collaborate with colleagues after school.
- Proficiency in technology and the ability to integrate it into instructional experiences.
- Knowledge of the Understanding by Design unit planning model is a plus.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
