Summary: The role of the Live-In Resident Supervisor is to foster a healthy and inclusive residential environment where each girl feels empowered to live comfortably and grow. This position requires a responsible, caring, energetic, and engaged professional who is interested in helping high school girls make connections, develop relationships, and navigate all aspects of community living. The position also includes residential life duties predominantly during the weeknights and weekends. This position requires experience in residential life and/or youth mentoring. This position is instrumental in supporting the residential life team to create a homelike atmosphere in the dorms centered on inclusion and belonging, and is willing and available to regularly socialize and talk with students and help when advice is needed.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Approaches students with curiosity and focused on building trusting relationships;
  • Foster a sense of belonging, empathy and curiosity;
  • Provides afternoon, evening and weekend duty supervision of the dorms; which includes supervising, caring and accounting for the whereabouts of students, along with chaperoning weekend outings;
  • Required to meet every Tuesday for all staff meetings, has a weekly breakfast duty on school mornings and weekly overnight duty
  • Monitors study hall and assists the students with homework when needed and appropriate;
  • Must be regularly accessible to students when on campus, whether formally or informally, willing to share personal space, to create a homelike environment. Required to attend and occasionally lead important Residential Life programmatic events. These events include, but are not limited to: family dinners, intentional programs, prayer services, the annual boarding hall fall and spring retreats, birthday and cultural dinners, etc.
  • Communicates all concerns promptly to the Director of Residential Life or another School Administrator if Director is unavailable;
  • Develops professional relationships with students and team members;
  • Contributes to the provision of an environment which supports the academic, social, emotional and physical well-being and development of students;
  • Must keep composure and lead during emergency situations. Follow and enforce  all school emergency procedures which include roll-call, calling proper authorities as needed, and reporting to higher administrators or authorities any missing students. All while prioritizing the safety and well-being of the residential life students.
  • Works with the school nurse and Director of Residential Life to properly administer medicine and provide medical support to students.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residential Life or upper management.

Requirements

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Multilingual preferred; Spanish and Mandarin are a plus
  • Previous experience in residential life preferred
  • Have an energetic, caring and positive demeanor
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a sense of humor and a genuine interest in living and working with adolescent girls
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative fashion
  • Understanding and appreciation of multicultural diversity
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication and listening skills
  • Must hold a valid California driver license and have automobile insurance
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Google functions

Physical and Environmental Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, run, observe and monitor student behavior in all facets of the school environment.
  • Must be able to reach, bend and/or lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to drive students to and from activities, days and evenings, as needed

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
