Description

The duties are as follows (but are not limited to):

  • To deepen middle school students’ understanding and engagement of Mathematics and Science through labs and project-based learning
  • In math, to teach students how to apply mathematical principles to solve problems, including equations, word problems, statistics, and binomials.
  • In science, to develop in each pupil an awareness of the role of science in economic and social progress; to motivate each pupil to acquire knowledge of scientific facts and principles, and skills in scientific methods of problem solving; to discover and develop special talents of pupils in scientific fields
  • To practice effective and positive classroom management strategies
  • To align lessons to the Common Core/California Math Standards using differentiated instruction in a student-centered classroom
  • To be creative and innovative in designing lessons to better engage the students
  • To bring the Catholic faith to life in the classroom
  • To create and submit innovative lesson plans using the Core Instructional Practice
  • To create a positive educational climate for students to learn, believing in a growth mindset for both teachers and students.
  • To work collaboratively with other teachers to analyze data and use the data to direct instruction
  • To use technology as a tool for learning
  • To utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served
  • To establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities

Requirements

The requirements are as follows:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Credentials or Master’s Degree (preferred)
  • Deep sense of his/her faith/spirituality

  • Understanding of what it means to work at an inner-city school

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
