Description

Junipero Serra High School, a co-educational Catholic high school in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, is seeking a mission-driven and highly skilled part time Information Technology Coordinator to oversee the school’s technology infrastructure and systems.

The IT Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring that all digital tools and platforms used by the school function efficiently, securely, and in alignment with the school’s mission to serve and educate. This includes maintaining the network, supporting hardware and software across campus, assisting staff with key platforms like PowerSchool and QuickBooks, and planning for future technology growth.

Summary of Major Duties and Responsibilities

Network, Systems, and Infrastructure Management

  • Oversee the school’s entire network infrastructure, including internet service provider selection, wireless access point installation and management, and ongoing eRate funding applications.
  • Manage and maintain the server room and school file storage systems, including regular data backups, system recovery, software updates, and hardware upgrades.
  • Assess the need for infrastructure upgrades and lead the implementation of new systems to ensure the school remains current and secure.
  • Coordinate procurement of all technology-related equipment, software, supplies, and services, while developing and managing the annual IT budget.

Technology Support for School Operations

  • Provide comprehensive support for key administrative systems, including PowerSchool (Student Information System), QuickBooks (finance), and other campus platforms.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to external technical support for troubleshooting and user training needs.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot front office technologies such as the digital marquee, school website, postage system, PA system, ID card software, and video streaming equipment.

Device and Equipment Management

  • Support and maintain all campus devices, including Macs, PCs, tablets, and laptops used by students, teachers, administrators, and office staff across classrooms, labs, and common areas.
  • Administer software and operating system updates, help desk services, troubleshooting, and monitoring of technology usage and compliance.
  • Oversee the school’s leased printers and copiers, providing support and coordinating repairs or service requests as needed.
  • Manage all classroom technology tools, including interactive projectors, document cameras, and DVD players, to ensure reliable instructional delivery.

Instructional Technology and Faculty Collaboration

  • Partner with faculty to ensure that educational software is compatible with existing infrastructure, properly licensed, and supports effective instruction.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to staff in the use of Google Workspace for Education tools, including Gmail, Google Drive, Google Classroom, and other G-Suite applications.
  • Offer classroom technology setup and troubleshooting, and serve as a resource for integrating technology into curriculum and instruction.

Audio/Visual and Event Technology Support

  • Maintain and coordinate audio/visual equipment for school events, assemblies, and liturgies.
  • Ensure all A/V systems are functional, repaired promptly, and serviced in a cost-effective manner.
  • Provide setup and on-site support for internal and external events requiring tech support.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Provide additional support as directed by the Principal or Assistant Principal to meet the evolving needs of the school and its technology ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Educational Technology, or a related field
  • At least 2 years of experience in IT systems management; experience in a school environment preferred
  • Familiarity with Student Information Systems (PowerSchool) and finance software (Blackbaud)
  • Strong proficiency in Google Workspace for Education, Apple devices/software (iMac, MacBook, iPad), and PCs
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and implement technology strategies and infrastructure projects
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and supporting student learning through technology

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
