St. Paul the Apostle School is deeply committed to serving children. Our mission goes beyond academics—we provide holistic support to our students and their families, nurturing both minds and hearts. The Health Clerk serves as a member of the Nurse’s office and provides additional support to the health care needs of 550 students, ages 4-14.
The Health Clerk assists with the school’s overall health and safety program. Health Clerk training, delegation and supervision is facilitated by the school nurse.
School Health Program:
- Render first aid to injured and ill students.
- Document provision of care as directed by the nurse.
- Assist School Nurse in maintaining health records and preparing reports.
- Maintain health office supply and equipment inventory and orders replacements with approval from the School Nurse and/or Administration as needed.
- Assist nurse coordinate care, referrals and follow-up, as needed
- Collaborate with school mental health team as needed
- Maintain competence to perform the delegated tasks.
- Report observations and activities to the delegating nurse.
- Assist nurse with health screening programs
- Assist nurse with communicable disease control and prevention
- Assist with the schools emergency and disaster preparedness and during emergency situations, such as and not limited to natural disasters, threats on campus, etc. including classroom emergency backpacks
- Assist with chronic absenteeism tracking and follow-up
- Maintain all office forms current and stocked
- Communicate with faculty/staff, as directed and needed
- Perform general filing of paperwork/forms
- Maintain health room bulletin boards, decorated and updated
Other Expectations:
- Keep phone and email communications responsive
- Attend staff meetings, as directed and needed
- Participate and help with major school events, as directed and needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

Reports to: School Nurse and/or Administration, as needed
Classification: Non-exempt (August 16, 2025 through June 12, 2026)
Compensation & Benefits: $25.00 – $30.00 per hour. This position is eligible for full benefits.
Required Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Monday-Thursday) and 8:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. (Friday)

Requirements
Education
- LVN preferred
- First aid & CPR certification required
- Basic computer skills/software programs, including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms, electronic communication, etc.
Personal Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written)
- Willingness to engage in a supportive manner is a must.
- Strong organizational skills in record management and task priority setting
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
