Description
The Director of Children’s Faith Formation has general oversight of the children’s Faith Formation Department and all its programs, including, but not limited to the following:
- Catechetical Formation-Preschool, Elementary, Middle & High School, including preparation & post-communion formation.
- Catechist formation
- Children’s Good News at Family Mass
- Family Faith Formation-Parish & School
- Vacation Bible School (VBS)
- Collaborate with Parish to ensure Safeguard the Children Program is implemented in all programs involving minors and that all adult and youth volunteers meet all VIRTUS requirements
- Recruits & supports catechists & volunteers for FF programs
- Ensures that catechists receive appropriate resources and training
- Collaborates with FF team to prepare First Reconciliation Services & First Holy Communion Masses
- Plans, develops & facilitates formation for Elementary FF & School families whose children are preparing for First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion.
Requirements
Education & Formation:
- Certification in Catechetical Leadership or equivalent (or willingness to obtain)
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing with strong commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church
- Thorough knowledge of Catholic doctrine, liturgy and sacramental preparation
- Attends all Regional PCL meetings, Parish Staff Meetings & Ministry Team meetings
- Willingness to continue Catholic education
Experience:
- Minimum 2-3 years in parish faith formation or catechetical ministry (supervisory or leadership experience preferred)
- Proven experience working with children & teens in catechetical setting
- Experience in training, supervising & supporting volunteers
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
