Description

Saint Monica Preparatory (SMPREP), part of the vibrant St. Monica Catholic Community in Santa Monica, is seeking a Coordinator of Student Support, Teaching, and Learning for TK-5th grades in the 2025-2026 school year.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Guide and partner with the Principal and the TK – 5th grade teachers to design and implement a high-quality academic program grounded in research-based instructional strategies and pedagogical practices.
  • The Coordinator will lead the Student Support Team and also provide targeted, individualized support for students requiring tiered interventions In addition, the Coordinator helps to facilitate professional development, ensures curricular coherence, and provides instructional coaching to build teacher capacity and improve student learning.

Job descriptors and responsibilities:

  • Implement a Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) to equip teachers with effective instructional practices.
  • Develop a plan for instructional alignment and curricular coherence.
  • Design and implement a structured instructional coaching system to enhance teacher effectiveness.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating high-quality staff professional development aligned with student learning needs.
  • Provide classroom-based interventions to support student learning and to drive instructional practices and decisions.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to offer meaningful feedback and guide instructional improvement.
  • Promote and support Responsive Classroom practices across all grade levels.
  • Use STAR data and other assessment data to monitor student learning, addressing urgent academic support for at-risk students, while tracking and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Coordinate and oversee the STEP program
  • Deliver targeted interventions (one-to-one intervention, small group intervention, and push-in support in classrooms)
  • Create, implement, and monitor STEP plans, ensuring communication and collaboration with teachers and families.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Middle School and middle school faculty to support vertical alignment and continuity in student learning.
  • Serve as an active member of the school’s Distributed Leadership Team

Requirements

The minimum requirements are:

  • An undergraduate degree (BA, BS) from an accredited university or college.
  • A California Multiple Subject or Single Subject Teaching Credential, or equivalent from another state.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teacher professional development, student support, and support team education plans (STEP)
  • 5 years full-time teaching experience.

In addition to the above, the preferred requirements are (from an accredited university or college):

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in Special Education
  • A California Special Education Credential, or equivalent.
  • Degrees or Certificates in Literacy and Reading Education; Teacher Education; Early Childhood Education

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
