Description
The Church of the Visitation is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Confirmation Coordinator to join our Faith Formation team. The Confirmation Coordinator will creatively lead and build our Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs. This part-time position is designed for a passionate leader committed to nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of teens in our parish community. The Confirmation Coordinator will develop and implement a comprehensive Sacramental Preparation program, foster a vibrant community spirit, and guide and accompany young people in deepening their faith and relationship with Christ and His Church.
Key Responsibilities
Program Development and Execution:
- In conjunction with the Director of Religious Education, develop, plan, implement and evaluate innovative and effective catechetical and formation programs for teens in Year 1 and 2 of their preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation
- Plans, coordinates, and implements weekend retreats and evenings of prayer and reflection.
- Assists in the preparation of Liturgical celebrations, including Confirmation Hosted Masses.
Leadership and Supervision:
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and development of ongoing faith formation and leadership development of the Confirmation team including Adult and Peer leaders.
- Serve as a role model of Catholic faith and morals to all participants in the Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs.
Community and Relationship Building:
- Provide consistent communication with parents, families, and the broader parish community to support Confirmation and Youth Ministry and enhance relationships within the community.
- Collaborate effectively with Clergy, staff and other Ministries within the Church, including Staff Meeting participation, as well as with other community leaders to promote intergenerational activities, service learning, and parish and community wide events.
Administration:
- Efficiently manage records for the Confirmation Program including collection and storing of forms, and Sacrament Certificates.
- Maintain compliance with all archdiocesan guidelines and safety protocols for working with minors for all members of the Confirmation and Youth Ministry teams, including the Safeguard the Children Program.
- Determines creative and effective means of publicizing and promoting Confirmation and Youth Ministry programs and experiences through print and digital media.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
- Experience in Confirmation and youth ministry or education, ideally within a Catholic context and commitment to on-going professional development
- Proven ability to develop and lead faith formation programs and activities for youth and for teens.
Skills and Characteristics:
- Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
- A committed missionary Christian disciple who embodies and promotes Catholic values.
- Creative catechetical leader with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with teens and adults.

Position details
This is a 20 hour/week part-time non-exempt role, starting in July/August 2024.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
