Description

Holy Family Catholic Church is seeking a full time Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator to provide vision, leadership, and administration management to our vital and growing youth ministry.

Confirmation and Youth Ministry is rooted in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This Gospel is spread to young people when Christ is embodied by those ministering; when the Good News is proclaimed and explained; when young people are challenged to live the truth in charity; and when they are encouraged to share their unique gifts for building up the community of the Church.

Goals:

  • To form preteens and teens as faithful missionary disciples of Jesus Christ and his Church.
  • To plan and implement a multi-dimensional Youth Ministry program that will respond to the needs of preteens and teens (6th grade through 12th grade) in the parish community.
  • Provide spiritual, educational, and social development, and community service activities for both our Confirmation Program and EDGE Middle School Youth Ministry.
  • Develop relationships with both students and their parents, building trust and camaraderie with the families and supporting them in their role by promoting healthy adolescent development and adhering to the Safeguard the Children requirements.
  • Recruit and train volunteers for our Confirmation and EDGE programs, who assist in the faith formation as well as social and community activities with the youth.
  • We are looking for a collaborative initiative-taker with excellent organizational skills who is excited to support the mission of our large and dynamic Catholic parish.

The chosen candidate will:
Have experience in:

  • Directing both staff and volunteers
  • Overseeing a budget and responsibly stewarding all resources

Possess the following attributes:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic, maintaining a lifestyle (including marital status) in harmony with the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Leadership skills for team building
  • Empathy and diplomacy necessary for inspiring and shepherding youth from children to adults
  • Engaging presentation skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement the Confirmation and EDGE Middle School Youth Ministry Programs.
  • Recruit volunteers, and create and develop training and formation opportunities for them.
  • Coordinate and plan EDGE and Confirmation sessions.
  • Coordinate works of mercy service opportunities for teens and middle schoolers.
  • Plan and coordinate special events and trips.
  • Inform the parish of EDGE and Confirmation program events via church bulletin, parish website, and other modes of digital communication (email, Flocknote, etc.).
  • Organize annual Confirmation and volunteer retreats.
  • Plan fundraising events for the benefit of Confirmation and Youth Ministry.
  • Develop the annual program budget.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with high-functioning etiquette habits and ability to foster healthy relationships with youth and families, as well as productive working relationships with diverse personalities at all levels of the organization (Archdiocese & parish)
  • High level of professionalism, with ability to appropriately navigate sensitive and confidential situations
  • Strong administrative skills, including but not limited to execution of programs, frequent and effective communication with families and staff, management of the annual budget, appropriate recordkeeping, and supervision of paid and volunteer staff
  • Strong computer literacy, with ability to learn and adapt to new applications and systems; Proficiency in MS Office 365, with an emphasis on Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must have a current CA driver’s license
  • Must pass a fingerprinting and background check, and maintain up-to-date VIRTUS (Safeguard the Children) training
  • Must bear witness to Christ by supporting and advocating teachings of the Catholic Church by word and deed (instruction and lifestyle)

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School or equivalent
  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
  • Catechist Certification

Experience:

  • Youth Ministry: 1 year or equivalent combination of education and experience (Preferred)

Schedule:

  • 40 hours per week: Sunday – Thursday 9AM to 6 PM, with variation depending on the day with Pastor approval

Supervisory Duties:

  • 10-25 volunteer leaders

Salary and Benefits:

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
