Job Summary & Essential Functions:
The Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach will work under the supervision of the Athletic Director in accordance with Bishop Alemany High School’s mission. The Boys Varsity Volleyball Head Coach realizes and appreciates the need for the Boys Volleyball program to work with other sports as a complement to the entire athletic department and overall school.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction and coach students to develop athletic, teamwork and leadership skills and the ability to excel in the volleyball program. Contribute to the educational program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are successfully competitive.
- Use a variety of instructional techniques and resources to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in volleyball.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
- Work with other members of the school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure the overall educational development of student athletes.
- Ensure that all volleyball coaches work together toward a common goal within the volleyball program and provide unity with a structured feeder system.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate student’s athletic abilities initially and on a regular basis.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extra-curricular participation.
- Work with Athletic Director to schedule competitions and coordinate arrangements.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of coaching program, which includes making changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program.
- Maintain thoughtful, consistent, and appropriately informative communications with players, parents, and school personnel.
Requirements
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A minimum 3 years of experience as a high school Varsity Volleyball Coach is preferred.
- High School Diploma
- ADLA Live Scan (provided) and TB Test
- VIRTUS certification (provided), First Aid & CPR and Play Like A Champion certification (provided)
This position is part-time. No teaching position is currently available. Compensation for this position can range between a $8,000 and $10,000 stipend based on experience, policy and budget. We consider a number of factors including, but not limited to, skills set, experience, training and department needs.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
