ABOUT CRESPI CARMELITE HIGH SCHOOL:
Crespi Carmelite High School, established in Encino, California in 1959, serves male high school age students who wish to pursue a Carmelite college preparatory, Christian education in a Catholic environment. Dedicated to excellence and responding to the challenges of education in our time, we offer a holistic model of education emphasizing the spiritual, intellectual, moral, physical, and social development of our students.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Athletic Trainer will work under the supervision of the Director of Strength & Student Wellness in accordance with Crespi Carmelite High School’s mission statement to ensure student-athletes have high quality health care service assisting students through preventative measures, prompt injury management, and education.

PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the management of injury prevention measures, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries for Crespi student-athletes.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develop, provide and coordinate plans for providing athletic training services for designated high impact home games, away varsity football games, playoff games and other select games and practices
  • Coordinate with coaches (as first responders) for all home CIF events.
  • Devise and post a schedule for the daily hours of operation of the athletic training facility
  • Provide first aid and emergency care for injured student-athletes participating in Crespi athletic activities.
  • Communicate with coaches, parents and additional staff members regarding health care services including but not limited to prevention, injuries, and recovery procedures of student-athletes.
  • Organize and implement annual pre-participation sports physicals & baseline testing
  • Assists in the collecting, organizing, and maintaining of all mandated medical forms required by the school, section, and state governing bodies
  • Track injuries and maintain documentation focusing on treatment and management of injuries sustained in Crespi athletic activities
  • Assist Crespi student athletes with non Crespi athletic injury management.
  • Develop and implement policies/procedures for:
    • Athletic injury & ailment management
    • Blood Borne Pathogens
    • Skin Infections
  • Review & Collaborate policies/procedures for:
    • Mental and Emotional Care Management Plan
    • Emergency Action Plan Venue Specific
    • Environmental Safety related to air quality, heat, and lightning
  • Lead the Sports Medicine Club upholding the National Honor’s Society of Sports Medicine guidelines
  • Establish a working relationship with a designated team physician and medical advisory board including but not limited to, team physicians, physical therapist, chiropractors, and other health care professionals.
  • Responsible for the athletic training room medical supplies, devices and inventory.
  • Responsible for hydration equipment and devices.
  • Continued management of athletic training professional credential & certifications.
  • Ensure HIPPA/FERPA compliance.
  • Provide health safety education on topics such as prevention, concussions, and heat illness for parents, coaches, and student athletes.
  • The President or his/her designee may assign other duties, including teaching responsibilities, and accountabilities limited to those consistent with the applicable job function and pay grade.

OPTIONAL ADDITIONAL DUTIES:

  • Certified instructor to teach CPR & First aid
  • Weight Certification for Wrestling

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Recovering and or injured student athletes.
  • Directly supervises students in sports medicine club & national honors society of sports medicine.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with the focus in Athletic Training
  • Master’s degree is preferred
  • NATA/BOC certified
  • Emergency Cardiac Care Certification

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of high school experience as an Athletic Trainer is preferred
  • Experience working with high school athletes is preferred

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES:
Knowledge:

  • Must have experience or a desire to work in a Catholic school
  • Knowledge of CIF Southern Section rules and regulations
  • Utilization of technology, including but not limited to Apple & Google Applications, is required
  • Understaning of pediatric injuries, illness and ailments
  • Understanding insurance usage

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
