Good Shepherd Catholic School is a Pre-K – 8th grade private school located in Beverly Hills. We are a diverse community with a focus on preparing our students to be academically strong, spiritually grounded, and socially aware global citizens. We are currently seeking a dedicated, experienced, and passionate teacher for 2nd Grade for the 2025-2026 school year.
This position is a self-contained classroom. The candidate must be a practicing Catholic, in good standing with the Catholic Church, and willing to support the teachings of the Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities:
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment conducive to learning and growth
- Teach all core subjects including religion with Sacramental preparation, language arts, math, science, and social studies
- Develop engaging lessons that integrate writing and reading across all content areas.
- Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners while identifying the unique learning styles of students by utilizing a variety of instructional strategies, resources, and technology.
- Conduct regular assessments through a variety of formative and summative tools to monitor student progress and provide support as needed
- Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and academic concerns and successes.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in school-wide events
- Incorporate Catholic teachings and values into daily instruction and classroom life fostering the spiritual development of students through prayer, reflection, and the integration of Catholic teachings into all aspects of school life.
- Keep current and complete grading and attendance records through our digital tools
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay current with educational trends and research
- Supervise students effectively, both in and out of the classroom
- Develop effective classroom management practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field
- Master’s Degree and/or teaching credential (or currently enrolled in a credential program)
- 3 years (minimum) experience teaching in an elementary classroom
- Experience and knowledge of instructional strategies for reading and writing
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum and instructional guidelines and goals
- Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills
- Practicing Roman Catholic (preferred)
- Prepare and implement lesson plans, instruct students using an effective classroom management style, monitor student progress, evaluate student performance, and maintain accurate student records
- Perform other duties and administrative tasks per school protocol and/or administration’s request
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in accordance with the school’s curriculum and instructional guidelines and goals
- Maintain a well-organized and stimulating learning environment conducive to academic success and personal growth
- Additional requirements: Virtus Certified; Live Scan through ADLA; Catechetical Certification (in progress)
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
