COVID-19 Update (13 March 2020 — 6:30 AM)
Recognizing the grave cause of the current public health emergency, Archbishop José H. Gomez has dispensed all the Catholic faithful of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and all Catholics currently in the Archdiocese from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass for the weekends of March 14-15, March 21-22, and March 28-29.

Daily and Sunday Masses are to continue as usual with accommodations for the recommended “social distancing,” which is the recommended six-foot distance.  If Masses are celebrated in a chapel or smaller space, Mass should be moved into the main church to allow for more spacing. COVID-19 Update (12 March 2020 — 7:00 AM)

Late last night, Governor Gavin Newsom announced that California state public health officials are recommending that public gatherings be limited to no more than 250 people, allowing for 6 feet of social distancing between people, due to COVID-19 (novel coronavirus).  The full announcement can be found here.

Archdiocesan representatives are in communication with state officials through the California Catholic Conference and will provide an update on recommendations for parishes, schools and ministries later today.

The Archdiocesan Catholic Center is open and operating under the regular work schedule to continue to serve the parishes and ministries of our local Church.

COVID-19 Update (11 March 2020)

With the growing concern of the spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) in California and around the world, institutions are putting in place preventative measures to limit the spread of the virus locally. The Archdiocese has already implemented several preventative measures and liturgical accommodations to address the threat of COVID-19. Following recommendations from local public health officials, at this time, there are no cancellation of Masses, no school closures and no suspension of other essential ministries and services in the Archdiocese.
