Year of St. Francis

“In this age, marked by so many seemingly interminable wars, by internal and social divisions that create mistrust and fear, he [Saint Francis] continues to speak. Not because he offers technical solutions, but because his life points to the authentic source of peace.”

– Pope Leo XVI

Our LA Catholics community joyfully welcomes the proclamation of the Special Year of St. Francis, inaugurated on January 10, 2026, by Pope Leo XIV to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the passing of St. Francis of Assisi. This extraordinary Jubilee Year invites the faithful to deepen their discipleship by following the example of St. Francis — embracing simplicity, fostering peace, caring for creation, and becoming models of holiness and service in our communities. During this time of grace, which continues until January 10, 2027, pilgrims throughout the world may seek spiritual renewal and the gift of a plenary indulgence through prayer, conversion of heart, and pilgrimage to Franciscan sites of worship.
