About
the parish

Saint Anthony Parish, established in 1902, is the first Roman Catholic Church in Long Beach. As the “Mother Church”, it is the predecessor of the other parishes in Long Beach. We are located at 540 Olive Avenue in Long Beach, California 90802.

Saint Anthony Parish School and Saint Anthony High School educate our youth from preschool through twelfth grade, giving them a sense of faith and community as well as great academics. You can learn more about our schools here.

FATHER GEORGE AGUILERA has been our pastor since 2018. He shepherds our Parish, Saint Anthony Parish School, Saint Anthony High School and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Mission. With his guidance, we hope to follow our call to be Eucharistic people who hold God as the center of our lives. Fr. George is also head of the Deanery 20 in our pastoral region. Fr. George was previously pastor of St. Anthony of Padua in Gardena and before that, at St. Aloysius Church in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

FATHER HENRY HERNANDO and FATHER BRIAN DORAN are retired archdiocesan priests who do not tire of serving the community. They assist our pastor in parish ministry.

SISTER REYNA COLIMOTE, VDMF, is the director of our religious education program that serves over 550 children and adults through faith formation and sacramental preparation. She belongs to the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity whose convent is located in our parish.

The SISTERS OF VERBUM DEI – our neighbors – are involved in our parish ministry in ways that help guide us to a deeper relationship with God in prayer and faith formation.

DEACON JORGE RAMOS was ordained in 2012 and has been a member of this community since his family moved to Long Beach in 1978. Deacon Jorge, his wife and their five sons serve the parish in different ways.

Our priests, deacon and religious make of our community a place to find and foster a relationship with God. If you would like to receive more information or register as a parishioner, please let us know!
