St. Monica Novena

Join LA Catholics in seeking the intercession of Saint Monica. Through her deep faith and perseverance in prayer, she led her husband and son toward conversion and return to the Catholic faith. Together as a family of faith we will pray for all children who are away from our faith and their return to the Church. Novena Prayer to St. Monica
Exemplary mother of the Great Augustine, you perseveringly pursued your wayward son… not with wild threats but with prayerful cries to heaven. Intercede for all mothers who like you long to see their children in the house of God.

Teach us to remain close to all God’s children, especially to the prodigal sons and daughters who have sadly gone astray.

Dear St. Monica, troubled wife and mother, many sorrows pierced your heart during your lifetime. Yet, you never despaired or lost faith. With confidence, persistence, and profound faith you prayed daily for the conversion of your beloved husband, Patricius and your beloved son, Augustine.

Grant me that same fortitude, patience, and trust in the Lord. Intercede for me, dear St. Monica, that God may favorably hear my plea for (names of those you are praying for) and grant me the grace to accept His will in all things, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever. Amen.

Today we pray for all of our children who are ready to come back to Church but don’t know how to take the first step. May the Holy Spirit inspire many to come to their aid so that they receive encouragement and guidance in their return to the Church.

Novena a Santa Mónica

Madre ejemplar del Gran Agustín, acompañaste perseverantemente a tu hijo descarriado… no con amenazas, sino con exclamaciones de oración al cielo. Intercede por todas las madres que como tú anhelan ver a sus hijos en la casa de Dios.

Enséñanos a permanecer cerca de todos los hijos de Dios, especialmente de los hijos e hijas pródigos que tristemente se han extraviado.

Querida Santa Mónica, esposa y madre con problemas, muchos dolores atravesaron tu corazón durante tu vida. Sin embargo, nunca te desesperaste ni perdiste la fe. Con confianza, persistencia y profunda fe oraste diariamente por la conversión de tu amado esposo, Patricio, y de tu amado hijo, Agustín.

Concédeme esa misma fortaleza, paciencia y confianza en el Señor. Intercede por mí, querida Santa Mónica, para que Dios escuche favorablemente mi súplica (nombres de aquellos por los que estás orando) y concédeme la gracia de aceptar Su voluntad en todas las cosas, a través de Jesucristo, nuestro Señor, en la unidad del Espíritu Santo, Dios por los siglos de los siglos.
