The annual Missionary Childhood Association (MCA) Mass will take place at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 10 a.m. to 1p.m. More than 1,700 students from 36 Catholic schools from Los Angeles, Ventura and Santa Barbara will be in attendance.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ Mission Office hosts the annual liturgy to celebrate the contributions by local youth to help underserved children of the world. This year the choir will be from Resurrection School in Los Angeles with Director, Sr. Adriana Gomez from the Franciscan Sisters. The principal celebrant is the newly ordained Bishop Matthew Elshoff and concelebrating will be Msgr. Terrance Fleming.

Recognitions for MCA 2023 Mass
MCA Christmas Artwork Winners 2022-2023

During the Mass, all Catholic schools will be honored for their participation in efforts that consist of help to cover school tuition and provide meals for children in Zambia, help with faith formation for children in West Africa and aid for families affected by the Turkey/Syria earthquake as well as families affected by the recent fire in Maui. The 2022-2023 MCA fundraising efforts, which involved Catholic schools and religious education students across the three-counties of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, raised $81,807.08. MCA also contributed to the aid sent to Turkey/Syria earthquake victims totaling $437,000 and the aid raised for the Maui fire victims which as of today has totaled $310,000.
