According to recent studies, the average American spends between 11 and 12 hours in front of a screen. What’s even more alarming is that often we have more than one screen in front us at any given point. We’re increasingly spending the majority of our waking time scrolling, swiping, and streaming.
While there is a lot of good to be found and discovered online, God is now in steep competition for our time and attention. Lent is a good time to take stock of the things which distract us from our relationship with God. Like any friendship, going deeper and getting requires time and attention.
Consider spending a few minutes a day unplugged and note the graces you experience.
