Lent: Day 17

Remember to talk to your guardian angel // Recuerda hablar con tu ángel guardián

When we speak about our guardian angels, we often describe how they save us from scrapes or seem to intercede in dramatic moments in our lives. This is true – they are there to guard us, as their name suggests.

But our guardian angels are also given to us to guide our way in ordinary circumstances. Of their role as guide, Pope Francis has said:

“Our angel is not only with us; he also sees God the Father. He is in relationship with Him. He is the daily bridge, from the moment we arise to the moment we go to bed. He accompanies us and is a link between us and God the Father. The angel is the daily gateway to transcendence, to the encounter with the Father: that is, the angel helps me to go forward because he looks upon the Father, and he knows the way. Let us not forget these companions along the journey.”

Consider introducing the practice of speaking to your guardian angel each day, asking for help and support as you journey closer to God this Lent.
