Lent: Day 12

No one comes to believe in the Lord Jesus in isolation or on his own. Faith is transmitted, passed down from generation to generation. This is how we have come to believe in Jesus 2,000 years after He walked the earth: the apostles shared what they saw, heard, and experienced, and their testimony made it way to us today.

Some of us receive the gift of faith from our parents and grandparents, who bring us to Mass, pass on traditions, and teach us to pray.  Others will come to believe through the witness of godparents, teachers, coaches, mentors, or friends. Still others will come to believe by reading the lives of the saints.

Just as the faith has been passed down to us, we are called to pass down the faith to others. This Lent, send a note of gratitude to someone who has been instrumental in your faith life. If they are deceased, remember them in a particular way in your prayers.

Nadie llega a creer en el Señor Jesús en aislamiento o por sí mismo. La fe es transmitida de generación a generación. Así es como hemos llegado a creer en Jesús 2,000 años después que Él caminó sobre la tierra: los apóstoles compartieron lo que ellos vieron, escucharon y experimentaron, y su testimonio ha llegado hasta nosotros hoy.

Algunos de nosotros recibimos el regalo de la fe de nuestros padres y de nuestros abuelos, quienes nos llevaban a misa, pasaron las tradiciones, y nos enseñaron a orar. Otros llegaremos a creer a través del testimonio de padrinos y madrinas, de profesores, entrenadores, mentores, o de amigos. Y otros llegarán a creer después de leer la vida de los santos.

Así como la fe nos ha sido traspasada, estamos llamados a transmitirla a otros. En esta Cuaresma, envíe una nota de gratitud a alguien que ha sido instrumental en su vida de fe. Si ellos están muertos, recuérdelos en una forma especial en sus oraciones.
