Position Summary
St. Monica Catholic Community is seeking a dependable and hardworking Weekend Janitor to help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for parishioners, visitors, and staff. This position is responsible for cleaning and preparing parish and school facilities following weekend liturgies, events, and activities. The ideal candidate takes pride in their work, is self-motivated, and enjoys serving in a faith-based environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms throughout the parish campus.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and replace liners.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors in church buildings, meeting rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Clean windows, glass doors, drinking fountains, and other high-touch surfaces.
- Wipe down tables, chairs, counters, and other furniture after parish events.
- Set up and break down tables and chairs for weekend activities as needed.
- Monitor restroom and facility supplies and notify supervisors when replenishment is needed.
- Assist with keeping outdoor entryways and walkways clean and free of debris.
- Lock and secure buildings at the end of the shift following established procedures.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or equipment issues promptly.
- Perform other custodial and maintenance-related duties as assigned.
- Must be available Saturdays and Sundays from 4 p.m. until midnight.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
- Must successfully complete all Archdiocese of Los Angeles employment requirements, including a background check and fingerprint clearance, prior to employment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Work Environment
This position works throughout the parish campus, including the church, parish offices, classrooms, meeting spaces, and outdoor areas. Weekend and evening work is required.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
