Description
St. Francis Xavier Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Upper Grade Teacher for Grades 5–8 who is passionate about supporting students during the critical middle school years. The ideal candidate will foster a structured and engaging classroom environment that promotes independence, organization, critical thinking, and strong study habits while nurturing students’ spiritual, academic, and social development.
This role focuses on helping students grow into responsible, confident learners who are prepared for the academic expectations and personal responsibilities of middle school and beyond.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based instruction for upper elementary and middle school students
- Foster critical thinking, collaboration, and problem-solving through interactive lessons and projects
- Support the development of strong organizational, study, and time management skills
- Create a positive, structured, and faith-centered classroom environment
- Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners
- Assess student learning and provide timely feedback to students and families
- Integrate technology and collaborative learning strategies into instruction
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support student success
- Support the Catholic mission and values of the school
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (Education or related field preferred)
- Valid California teaching credential or eligibility preferred
- Experience teaching upper elementary and/or middle school students preferred
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to prepare students for increased academic rigor and responsibility
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and school leadership
- Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the teachings of the Catholic Church (practicing Catholic preferred)
- Completion of required fingerprinting and Virtus training

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
