Description
The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) Teacher is responsible for creating and implementing a developmentally appropriate instructional program for four-year-old learners in accordance with California TK standards and the philosophy of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The teacher nurtures students academically, socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually in a faith-filled classroom environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons aligned with TK standards and Catholic values
- Foster early literacy, language development, numeracy, and social-emotional growth
- Create a safe, nurturing, structured, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment
- Integrate Catholic teachings, prayer, and faith formation into daily instruction and classroom culture
- Use positive classroom management and guidance strategies
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student development and progress
- Collaborate with administration, faculty, and support staff
- Participate in school liturgies, faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events
- Maintain compliance with Archdiocesan safe environment requirements, including fingerprinting and Virtus training
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field required
- Valid California Multiple Subject Credential or appropriate Child Development Permit preferred
- Knowledge of child development and early childhood instructional practices
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
- Practicing Catholic preferred
- Catechetical certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
