PURPOSE

The Teen Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator helps fulfill a vision for a relational, evangelizing catechesis, while identifying, inviting, equipping and accompanying catechists and volunteers who form loving disciples.
SUMMARY
The Teen Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator is an active and practicing Catholic, who is passionate about her/his faith, and who desires “to form loving disciples who will transform the world.” The Teen Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator will be a member of and work collaboratively with the Faith Formation (FF) team and communicate consistently on all areas of programming to assess needs, approach issues, offer support, and continually improve FF programs. The primary area of program responsibility will be our Teen Faith Formation Ministries (Teen Confirmation, Youth Ministry, and OCIC).

- Proficient in utilizing technology and digital media for teaching, and adept at learning new platforms and systems.
- Knowledgeable of current standard business software and the ability to quickly learn new, innovative applications, including FlockNote
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate as a member of the Faith Formation Team, coordinating programs, assessing progress, troubleshooting issues, offering support, and continuing improvement
- Convene and plan all sessions, retreats, and outings that are part of the teen confirmation program and accompany the participants and volunteers on their journey
- Coordinate speakers and content for Teen Confirmation sessions and events
- Provide ongoing communication with parents as needed for all matters relating to registration and enrollment, providing prompt communication with parents and teens, responding to issues as they arise
- Manage registration and record keeping for enrolled teens; maintain records of permission forms, attendance and payments and act as primary contact person for all matters relating to registration and enrollment
- Manage retreat planning, scheduling, registration, and other logistics for teen confirmation retreats
- Manage service requirements and opportunities for confirmation teens
- Manage the volunteer requirements, opportunities, and training for the teen confirmation program and update the Volunteer Service Descriptions
- Provide ongoing communication and development with all volunteers assisting in the program
- Help to facilitate the recruitment of new volunteers through broader parish outreach
- In conjunction with Director of FF and Adult Confirmation coordinator, help manage confirmation rehearsal and ceremony logistics
- Submit sacramental records after confirmation ceremonies
- Manage supplies, forms, and paperwork as needed
- Create and manage vibrant youth ministry programming to engage the youth of our parish, including regular programs, special events, outings, and retreat experiences
- Develop, manage, and train the youth ministry team including regular team meetings to assist with all aspects of the youth ministry programs
- Reserve and manage space for youth ministry gatherings
- Collaborate with the Dean of Faith Formation at the school about youth related activities
- Manage the marketing, logistics, and participation in Archdiocesan youth activities, especially RE Congress Youth Day and the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC)
General
- Manage the marketing for the teen programs and submit content for the weekly witness and the website
- Ensure all volunteers and programs are in compliance with the requirements of Safeguard the Children and fingerprinting
- Recruit and manage volunteers through broader parish outreach
- Offer regular training and inspiration to the catechists and volunteers
- Attend meetings and events for all staff
WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Working Environment: The responsibilities of the Teen Confirmation and Youth Ministry Coordinator will be performed in diverse settings, including a traditional office environment, classrooms, outdoors and off-site locations.
Physical Demands: Standing for extending periods of time. Lifting, transporting and organizing materials. Some occasional lifting, carrying, loading of objects and materials (up to 50 lbs).
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree and Basic Faith Formation Certification (Preferred: Master’s degree in theological studies or Master Catechist Certification)
- A thorough understanding of the Catholic Church’s policies and requirements for faith formation and sacraments
- Experience in Faith Formation, working with parents, children and/or teens in youth ministry or other programs, and familiarity with Church organizational protocols and policies
- Safeguard the Children Requirements with knowledge and compliance with all VIRTUS requirements
- Willingness to complete the Safeguarding the Children requirements (VIRTUS & Fingerprinting) immediately upon hire. (Preferred: Certified as an Empowering God’s Children Catechist)
- Willingness to complete Empowering God’s Children Certification
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
