Description

The purpose of Visitation Catholic School in Westchester is to focus on the basic truth that the aim of Catholic education is the education of the whole child. The faculty believes that each child is endowed by God with special talents and gifts, and that it is the duty of each educator to help the child discover and develop these gifts.
In the school’s Faith Community, many people are working together: priests, parents, teachers, students and the entire parish community. The faculty adheres to the three-fold purpose of Catholic education by the teaching of doctrine, the building and experiencing of community and of being of service to others. The faculty believes that students must contribute to the Faith Community, looking to Christ as the center of all that is of value in this life and in the next.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and implements the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Visitation Catholic School.
  • Gives evidence of lived Gospel values and actively participates in building our school faith community.
  • Works directly with students approximately 75% of the time, with the remaining time devoted to clerical support, grading, and preparation.
  • Collaborates closely with the classroom teacher, working under their direction to support small group instruction aligned to specific goals and objectives.
  • Instructs and monitors student application of skills and concepts in skill-based small groups.
  • Maintains a professional, fair, and consistent approach in all interactions with students
  • Encourages self-discipline and reinforces positive student behavior.
  • Participates in yard and lunch supervision on a regular basis.
  • Maintains reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Attends new staff orientation and participates in faculty in-service trainings related to student health and safety, including CPR, first aid, and disaster preparedness.

  • Practicing Roman Catholic
  • Experience working with elementary-age students preferred.
  • Collaborative team player with strong communication skills
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
