Schedule

  • Hourly, non-exempt position; 30–35 hours per week
  • Position keeps school hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7:30 to 1 PM on Fridays
  • Must be available until 4:00 p.m. at least twice per month for faculty meetings, professional development, or other school activities.

Compensation

  • $20–$23 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Summary
Dolores Mission School is seeking a compassionate, energetic, and mission-driven Classroom Teacher’s Aide to support teachers in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment. The Teacher’s Aide works collaboratively with faculty and administration to support the academic, social, emotional, physical, and spiritual development of every student.
This position also provides support to the High School Scholars Coordinator by assisting 8th grade students and their families through the Catholic high school application process.

Essential Responsibilities

Classroom Support

  • Assist classroom teachers with daily instructional activities and classroom management.
  • Provide academic support to individual students and small groups.
  • Help prepare instructional materials, classroom activities, and learning centers.
  • Support teachers in maintaining a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment.
  • Supervise students during recess, lunch, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
  • Encourage positive student behavior using restorative justice practices and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist with monitoring student progress and communicate concerns to the classroom teacher or administration.
  • Support students’ academic, emotional, social, and spiritual growth.

High School Scholars Program Support

  • Assist the High School Scholars Coordinator in supporting 8th grade students during the Catholic high school admissions process.
  • Help organize application materials, deadlines, and student records.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for meetings, workshops, interviews, and family information sessions.
  • Help ensure students successfully complete admissions requirements and scholarship applications.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate commitment to the mission and values of Catholic and Jesuit education.
  • Maintain professional, respectful, and positive relationships with students, families, faculty, and staff.
  • Attend faculty meetings, professional development sessions, school events, and liturgical celebrations as required.
  • Follow all school, Archdiocesan, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Requirements

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and families.
  • Commitment to serving diverse communities and supporting the mission of Dolores Mission School.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Preferred

  • Experience working in an elementary school classroom.
  • Experience working with culturally diverse communities.
  • Familiarity with restorative justice practices and Catholic education.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 10–15 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk throughout the school day.
  • Ability to supervise students in both classroom and outdoor settings.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
