Hours: Up to 35 hours a week for 3 weeks from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm (excluding extended day on field trips)
Pay Rate: $30-32 hour

What is Onward 2 High School’s Summer Institute?
The Onward 2 High School (O2HS) program, an initiative of the John H. and Cynthia Lee Smet Foundation, is a bridge program that prepares middle school students for high school, college, and beyond. In the summer, O2HS will host a three-week, STEAM-based Summer Institute at four partner high schools where rising 7th grade and 8th grade students will expand their learning with new friends through hands-on collaborative projects, field trips, learning from guest speakers, and project-based learning. Position: Summer Institute Teacher
The Summer Institute Teacher is responsible for facilitating learning experiences for students entering the 7th or 8th grade. SI will provide teachers with a developed curriculum of STEAM activities centered around themed days filled with fun and competition such as building rocket ships, race cars, and boats. Teachers will be required to chaperone for the program’s field trips. Teachers will be expected to foster relationships with students in the classroom and during community activities.
Responsibilities
- Available for the entire duration of the Summer Institute from July 6, 2026 to July 24, 2026
- Attend mandatory paid orientation and training on June 30 and July 1 up to 8 hours daily
- Work 35 hours per week for 3 weeks during the program dates of Monday July 6, 2026 – Friday July 24, 2026
- 15 instructional days from 7:30 am – 2:30 pm including after school care
- Oversee the safety of students and staff
- Act as a substitute teacher with prepared curriculum and schedule if need arises
- Oversee overall operations of the program including curriculum implementation, activities, and field trips
- Complete administrative tasks including, but not limited to responsible for attendance and communicating with families
- Assist with morning drop off, after school pick up, rotating break supervision schedule
- Frequently meet and communicate with O2HS Program Director
Requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Previous experience with middle or high school students
- Ability to build rapport and leverage relationships with students and staff
- Respect of Catholic education
- Technology literate
- Cleared fingerprinting, Virtus Training, TB Test
- Able to stand for long periods of time both indoors and outdoors
Preferred Qualifications
- Multiple Subject/ Single Subject Teaching, or Admin Credential, or currently working toward credential
- Fluent in Spanish

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
