Description

San Gabriel Mission High School is seeking a dynamic, faith-filled, and highly skilled Science and Math Teacher to join our faculty for the 2026–2027 academic year. Rooted in the Catholic tradition and inspired by the Dominican Sisters of Mission San José, SGMHS is committed to forming young women who are intellectually strong, spiritually grounded, and dedicated to service.

Requirements

Position Summary
The Science & Math Teacher will teach a combination of courses in Science (Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology) and Mathematics (Geometry, Precalculus, AP Precalculus, and Statistics) based on departmental needs and candidate expertise.

This educator will design engaging, standards-based instruction that develops students’ conceptual understanding, analytical reasoning, problem-solving skills, and scientific inquiry. The ideal candidate fosters curiosity, rigor, and confidence in STEM learning while supporting students of varying skill levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned sections of Science and Math courses (Chemistry, Biology, AP Biology, Geometry, Precalculus, AP Precalculus, Statistics)
  • Develop and implement rigorous, standards-aligned lesson plans in both disciplines
  • Facilitate inquiry-based learning, lab investigations, and mathematical reasoning
  • Prepare students for success in advanced coursework and college readiness
  • Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs in STEM subjects
  • Maintain accurate grading, attendance, and timely feedback
  • Utilize technology and instructional tools to enhance STEM learning
  • Collaborate with Science and Math departments on curriculum alignment and assessment practices
  • Participate in school liturgies, retreats, service programs, and community events
  • Serve as a mentor and positive role model in both academic and faith formation

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Education, or related field (required)
  • Valid California Teaching Credential (preferred or in progress)
  • Subject matter competency in Science and/or Mathematics (required)
  • Experience teaching secondary-level Science and/or Math (preferred)
  • Ability to teach both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency
  • Strong classroom management and relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency with instructional technology and STEM learning tools
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with faculty, students, and families

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
