Description

St. Francis Xavier Catholic School is seeking an innovative and collaborative STEM-focused Science Teacher for Grades 1–8 for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate is passionate about inquiry-based learning, hands-on science instruction, and integrating engineering, technology, and problem-solving skills within a faith-centered learning environment.

Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching standards-based science with a strong emphasis on STEM and inquiry
  • Designing and facilitating hands-on labs, engineering challenges, and project-based learning
  • Integrating technology and real-world applications into science instruction
  • Differentiating instruction to meet diverse learning needs
  • Assessing student learning and providing timely feedback
  • Collaborating with faculty to support cross-curricular STEM initiatives
  • Supporting the Catholic mission and values of the school

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required (science, STEM, or education preferred)
  • Valid California teaching credential or eligibility preferred
  • Experience teaching upper elementary and/or middle school science or STEM preferred
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Commitment to Catholic education (practicing Catholic preferred)
  • Completion of required fingerprinting and Virtus training

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
