Job Title: Spanish Teacher

Job Status: Full-time, exempt

Pay: $42,000-$73,256 salary position: depending on education/experience

Department: Languages and Cultures Division of Faculty

Reports to: Assistant Principal of Academics and Admissions, Division Chair, Principal

Job Summary
The primary responsibility of a Spanish teacher at St. Joseph High School is to facilitate the instructional planning and delivery to students in accordance with our mission to help each student image Christ in mind, heart, body, and soul. Our Josephite charism is integral to our identity as a school community; teachers should show all students the charism’s commitment to building family spirit on campus through unconditional, positive regard. This position exhibits a high degree of independent judgment and must effectively communicate with students, parents, and other school personnel.

Requirements

Essential Job Functions

Regular Activities
• Promote and carries out the St. Joseph High School mission in the manner of the Josephite charism
• Design and/or implement courses and units that effectively promote department outcomes and adhere to the scope and sequence as determined by the division
• Plan what students will learn, how they will learn and how they will be assessed within a framework that features common assignments and assessments appropriate to the grade level within the academic discipline
• Engage students in an active, effective learning environment
• Collaborate with peers to develop, review, and improve curriculum
• Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile appropriate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning
• Communicate consistently with students, parents and school personnel
• Work with appropriate administrators, the STEP coordinator, and/or counselors to support students that may have special learning needs
• Keep current and complete grading and attendance records

Qualifications
Required
o Bachelor’s degree required (Spanish, Education, or similar field)
o Ability to work collaboratively to promote student learning
o Master’s Degree or teaching credentials (or working towards credentials)
Preferred
o Experience working with high school students
o Experience as a classroom teacher
o Facility with CANVAS or familiarity using similar learning management systems
o Master’s Degree in Spanish, education, or single subject teaching credential
o Experience in a Catholic high school setting

Skills and Abilities
• Strong leadership qualities and mentoring skills
• Excellent skills in communicating both orally and in written form
• Able to work both independently and in a team setting
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Google Suite
• Ability to learn new computer software systems

Salary & Benefits
• This position will pay based on the internal pay range and policy
• This position is fulltime, exempt, and eligible for benefits
• The contract day is from 7:30am-3:30pm, Monday-Friday, August 1 – June 30th
o Teachers generally work the second week in August – the second week in June
o In addition to summer break, teachers also receive Spring Break and Christmas Break off
