Job Summary
The St. Francis High School seeks a full-time Spanish Teacher for the 2025-26 school year. Candidates must demonstrate the ability and flexibility to teach any level from Spanish 1 through AP Spanish Language and Culture. These courses focus on continuing our students’ access to the Spanish language and preparing them to continue Spanish in their college careers and beyond. Both spoken and written Spanish are emphasized in these courses.
The ideal candidate will:
- Demonstrate experience working in a team setting, effectively communicating and collaborating with co-workers, parents and other stakeholders to enhance the educational experience.
- Enhance the students’ experiences by creating a structured, respectful, disciplined and positive learning environment to promote learning.
- Exhibit the knowledge of the structure and content of the Spanish language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar, and pronunciation.
- Fulfill High School’s mission and philosophy in tradition.
- Maintain a rich educational standard rooted in Franciscan values.
- Possess knowledge of Spanish principles and demonstrated ability to apply in a classroom setting.
Requirements
Education and Experience
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Spanish or other relevant discipline.
- Master’s Degree in Spanish, Linguistics or World Languages (Preferred).
- Minimum 3-5 years (preferred) full-time Spanish teaching experience in an accredited high school.
- Active Credential (preferred).
- Proven ability to create and follow through with lesson plans.
- Capability to manage the classroom.
- Proficiency to communicate subject materials efficiently.
- Demonstrated proficiency in technology.
- Successful completion of background check and VIRTUS training.
Primary Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to established classroom procedures and school regulations to maintain a structured learning environment.
- Engage in additional duties including, but not limited to, homeroom supervision, lunch supervision, and event supervision.
- Fulfills the role of substitute teacher as needed, ensuring continuity and progression of the curriculum in the absence of fellow instructors.
- Participate in school activities like Open House, Back to School Night, and others, actively supporting the school community.
- Uphold the faith community within the school, promoting moral values in line with our tradition.
- Additional responsibilities not limited to assessing and grading, classroom management, communication and collaboration, extracurricular involvement, religious formation, instruction and curriculum development, and professional development.

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
