Job Summary

St. Francis High School seeks a highly organized, mission-driven Security and Facilities Coordinator to help ensure a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained campus environment that supports the formation of young men in the Catholic, Capuchin Franciscan tradition. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Security and Facilities Coordinator assists in overseeing campus safety, security operations, facilities management, event logistics, and daily campus operations.

This individual plays an important role in safeguarding students, faculty, staff, and visitors while helping maintain the physical environment in which the St. Francis mission thrives. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver who demonstrates sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, operational leadership, and a commitment to servant leadership.

Essential Functions of the Position

Campus Safety & Security

  • Assist with the coordination of daily campus safety and security operations, including supervision of campus security personnel and contracted security services.
  • Monitor campus access points and help ensure controlled entry protocols are followed.
  • Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of campus safety and emergency preparedness plans.
  • Coordinate and assist with emergency drills including fire, earthquake, lockdown, and evacuation procedures.
  • Maintain and oversee campus security systems, including cameras, alarms, radios, and access control systems.
  • Respond to and document safety incidents and security concerns in collaboration with school administration.
  • Help ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety mandates and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with safety training and communication for faculty, staff, and campus personnel.
  • Serve as a liaison with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency services when appropriate.
  • Support a visible, approachable, and welcoming campus presence that promotes student safety and positive school culture.

Facilities Operations & Maintenance

  • Assist with the daily oversight and upkeep of campus facilities to ensure the campus remains clean, safe, functional, and well-maintained.
  • Coordinate maintenance requests, work orders, and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Assist in overseeing maintenance staff, custodial services, grounds crews, and outside vendors.
  • Support facility repair projects and help ensure completion within established timelines and budget expectations.
  • Assist with vendor engagement for maintenance, security systems, and facilities-related services.
  • Help maintain records related to inspections, permits, maintenance schedules, and facility compliance.
  • Support long-term facility planning and campus improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology and outside vendors regarding campus infrastructure systems, including telecommunications and related operational systems.

Event Operations & Logistics

  • Coordinate logistical support for school events, athletic contests, performances, meetings, and community gatherings.
  • Assist with crowd management, parking coordination, and event security planning.
  • Coordinate facility use requests and maintain an organized calendar of campus events and facility rentals.
  • Work closely with Administration, Athletics, Development, Student Life, and Operations teams to ensure successful event execution.
  • Assist in coordinating event setup and breakdown with operations staff and outside vendors.
  • Maintain records related to external facility use, insurance documentation, and associated fees.

Emergency Preparedness

  • Assist with the ongoing development of the school’s emergency response procedures and safety documentation.
  • Support training and communication related to campus safety practices.
  • Help ensure compliance with local safety regulations and best practices for school security.
  • Partner with the Director of Health Services & Sports Medicine / Science to support campus safety initiatives, emergency preparedness planning, injury response protocols, crisis management procedures, and overall student and employee well-being.

Community Presence & Leadership

  • Build positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, families, alumni, and community partners.
  • Maintain positive relationships with neighboring organizations and local agencies.
  • Uphold the values of hospitality, professionalism, respect, and servant leadership that characterize the St. Francis community.
  • Provide mission-centered leadership that reflects and advances the Catholic, Capuchin Franciscan identity of the school.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations.

Requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in Facilities Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent experience considered
  • Minimum of one (1) years of progressively responsible experience in facilities operations, campus security, school operations, or a related field preferred
  • Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred
  • Experience in an educational, nonprofit, or mission-driven environment preferred
  • Successful completion of background screening, fingerprinting, Safe Environment training, and mandated reporting requirements required
  • Valid California driver’s license required

Preferred Certifications

  • CPR / First Aid / AED Certification
  • FEMA ICS / NIMS Training
  • School Safety, Facilities Management, or Emergency Preparedness Certifications

Knowledge and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of campus safety procedures, emergency preparedness, and crisis response protocols
  • Understanding of facilities management, preventative maintenance, and building operations
  • Familiarity with access control systems, surveillance technology, alarms, and related security systems
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a dynamic school environment
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion
  • Commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and ethical conduct
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace platforms
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education
  • Experience coordinating, maintaining, and managing organizational vehicle fleets, including maintenance scheduling, inspections, registrations, recordkeeping, and operational readiness preferred.

Work Environment

  • This position operates in a dynamic school environment requiring regular interaction with students, families, faculty, staff, vendors, and community partners. The position requires extensive campus mobility, including walking throughout indoor and outdoor facilities, navigating stairs, and responding to operational needs across campus while occasionally lifting objects up to 20 pounds related to retreat or event setup.
  • Evening, weekend, and occasional after-hours responsibilities are required to support school events, campus activities, and emergency response situations.

The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
