St. Bernard Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, highly collaborative Second Grade teacher for the 2026–2027 school year. Second grade is a critical year for building strong reading comprehension, writing foundations, and math fluency. The ideal candidate will ensure students move beyond basic reading skills into a clear understanding, expression, and structured thinking.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field (required)
- Valid teaching credential (preferred)
- Experience in early elementary instruction preferred
Strong background in:
- Reading comprehension instruction (retelling, explaining, responding in complete sentences)
- Foundational writing (grammar, sentence structure)
- Math foundations (number sense, fluency, problem-solving)
Ability to:
- Collaborate with grade-level team (2nd–4th)
- Use student data to guide instruction
- Support diverse learners in partnership with school support staff
- Strong classroom management and communication skills
- Practicing Catholic or willing to support the Catholic mission of the school
- Commitment to a team-first, collaborative teaching environment

- Demonstrates knowledge of Catholic teachings, traditions, and values
- Models the faith through daily witness and participation in the sacramental life of the Church

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
