Villanova Preparatory School (Villanova), is a distinguished co-educational, college preparatory school in beautiful Ojai, California. Founded by Augustinian Friars and ranked as one of the best Catholic schools in America, Villanova was visited several times by Pope Leo XIV when he was head of the worldwide Order of Saint Augustine. Serving boarding and day students in grades six through twelve, Villanova offers a rigorous education rooted in a rich intellectual tradition that dates back to the founding of the Augustinians in 1244. Surrounded by the Los Padres National Forest and 30 miles east of Santa Barbara, Villanova is accredited by the Western Catholic Education Association and the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
Requirements
Villanova Prep seeks a Registered Nurse to oversee the health needs of Villanova’s students during the school day. The School Nurse responsibilities also include supporting the health needs of the Athletic Department and offering health education and training to the Villanova community as needed.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
- Support the overall health needs of the student population during the school day.
- Maintain and update proper student medical records.
- Communicate health concerns to Resident Life staff, Administration, and families.
- Support the Resident Life Staff in administering medications to resident students.
- Support the Athletic Department as needed in treating injuries, and providing preventative treatments such as icing, taping and wrapping.
- Inform the Athletic Director of any athletes who do not have the required sports physical.
- Coordinate physicals for resident students.
- Is part of the school safety committee and Caritas Team.
- Schedules or provides health education and training to the Villanova community as needed.
- Commitment to modeling the values of Catholic education and Villanova’s Augustinian mission
Additional Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted and compassionate presence for students, supporting the emotional, physical, and developmental well-being of adolescents.
- Coordinate care and communication with parents, physicians, counselors, and outside medical providers as appropriate.
- Maintain compliance with all California school health regulations and protocols.
- Assist in the development and implementation of student wellness initiatives and health-related policies.
- Assist in response to medical emergencies.
- Support student mental health and wellness initiatives in collaboration with counseling and student support personnel.
- Provide oversight and guidance regarding communicable illness prevention and protocols.
- Maintain inventory and organization of medical supplies and equipment.
- Participate in school events, orientation programs, and health screenings as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Is a licensed Registered Nurse.
- Has knowledge of child growth and development.
- Is knowledgeable of laws, rules, and regulations regarding the provision of health services.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 25-50 pounds, including medical supplies and emergency equipment.
- Be able to assist students with mobility needs when necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous school nursing experience.
- Experience with sports medicine and mental health support.
- Experience working in a private, Catholic high school environment.
The wage range is $35-50/hour depending on qualifications and experience. This is a school-year only position (summers and school holidays are non-working days).

Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
