About Marymount:

Marymount is an Independent, Catholic all-girls high school that fosters confidence, joy, leadership, and a sense of greater purpose in each student. ● Classroom Instruction
○ Ability to teach curriculum from Algebra 1 through AP Calculus.
○ Employ lectures, discussions, and demonstrations using a variety of methodologies.
○ Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects, and communicate those objectives to students.
○ Provide opportunities, when needed, for individualized and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
○ Design learning activities that will relate mathematics to the physical world in an engaging and relevant way.
○ Prepare note packets, assignments, and supplemental materials to support assignments.
○ Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students’ varying needs and interests.
○ Assign classwork/homework, grade and return to students in a timely manner.
○ Maintain accurate and complete student records.
● Technology
○ Implement Google classroom, Smartboard, TI-Nspire Calculators, Desmos, and others, to supplement presentations.
○ Update the courses’ Google Classroom and/or the school management site on a regular basis.
○ Instruct classes virtually as needed using Zoom technology.
○ Keep up-to-date technically and applying new knowledge to the job.
● Student Management
○ Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, physical health and communicate with academic advisors and administrators in a timely manner with any causes of concern.
○ Establish and maintain standards of students’ behavior needed to provide an orderly, safe, and productive classroom environment.
○ Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate.
○ Prepare students for later grades by encouraging them to explore learning opportunities and to persevere with challenging tasks.
○ Guide and counsel students with adjustment and/or academic problems, or special academic interests.
○ Respond promptly to any parent/guardian communication.
○ Discuss students’ progress with parent/guardian and if needed, determine priorities and resource needs for academic improvement and/or implement approved remedial programming when necessary after discussing with Department Chair and Academic Dean.
● Administrative
○ Communicate effectively (via telephone, email, written form or in person) in a timely and prompt manner with Department Chair, administration and fellow faculty and staff.
○ Possess problem solving skills.
○ Maintain and improve professional competence through professional development opportunities, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
○ Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of mathematic courses through curriculum and other developmental programs.
○ Sponsor/Moderate extracurricular activities such as student led clubs/organizations, and academic contests or at minimum be involved in an extracurricular activity on campus.
○ Attend faculty/staff meetings, departmental meetings, school wide events and serve on committees as required and perform duties (ie., lunch supervision, chaperoning dances/events, proctoring exams) as needed.
○ Goal development to prioritize, organize and accomplish best practices in one’s work.
○ Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.

● Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or STEM field; Master’s Degree preferred.
● At least 3 years of full-time teaching, preferably in an independent school.
● Experience with technology.
