Job Description
Saint Paul the Apostle School, a Developmental Kindergarten through 8th grade Catholic Elementary and Middle School located near Westwood in Los Angeles, is accepting applications for Program Leaders for the Aftercare Program. The ideal candidate has experience working with children ages 5 to 14, has adept supervision skills, and is astute with split second decision making with child safety and wellbeing at the center. Program Leaders work as a team under the direction of the Director of Aftercare. St. Paul the Apostle School is committed to developing faith, character, and building community.
Duties and skills include, but are not limited to:
- Communicating thoughtfully and professionally with parents and colleagues.
- Creating weekly activities for students.
- Committing to maintaining a safe environment in which students thrive
- Engaging student interest by facilitating developmentally and age appropriate activities.
- Working in partnership with Campus Security.
- Maintaining clean and safe learning spaces.
- Actively supervising all students within your care.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Aftercare.
Personal Qualifications
- Strong assessment skills and independent decision-making abilities.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Willingness to engage in a supportive manner is a must.
- Strong organizational skills in record management and task priority setting.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications
- Experience working with children aged 5-14, preferred.
- Active Catholic preferred
- Effective communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Virtus “Protecting God’s Children” certification
- Livescan through Archdiocese of Los Angeles, required.
Hours and Compensation
- Hours: Monday – Thursday, 2:30pm – 6:00pm and Friday 12:15pm – 6:00pm
- Compensation: $20.00/hour
- This position is not eligible for benefits.
Wage Range
The rate of pay offered to the selected candidate is based on internal pay policy and budget. New hires are commonly paid at the minimum of the wage range or within the lower part of the range. We consider a number of factors when making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, training and other department needs.
